Seattle Cancer Care Alliance: Redesign and CMS Migration

Hero_withflippedtile.jpg

Opportunity

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance was working to bring more of the really incredible people and level of care side of the astounding, ground-breaking cancer care to the forefront of their online experience.

They hired my agency to provide a new site design that aligned with their refreshed marketing materials, organize their extensive library of physician and patient support information to be more consumable and discoverable, and help them select and migrate into a content management system.

Process

We operated with a small, lean team. I was the creative director (overseeing and directing the design process), information architect, and user experience architect for the project.

Since SCCA would be migrating to a new CMS (Drupal), and would be maintaining the site with limited resources, we created a very modular design system built upon a standardized design pattern library. The site was responsive.

Work

Mapping the patient journey, based on survey of existing research and client interviews.

A primary focus for the client was conveying the SCCA story on their web site and providing patients who have just received a cancer diagnosis with reassurance that they are choosing the best place for their care and treatment. I worked with the client to create a narrative for the home page.

From there moved into detailed wireframes.

We presented several concepts for the look-and-feel of the site to the client before settling on the final design approach.

Working with a separate team and the Possible content studio, we solicited concepts from third-party directors and produced a series of videos of patient stories to be featured on the site and elsewhere.
